JUST
FOR TODAY! --
Insurance
From
"March 1941 SATURDAY EVENING POST:"
"In
discussing their work, the AAs spoke of their
drunk-rescuing as 'insurance' for themselves.
Experience within the group has shown, they said,
that once a recovered drinker slows up in this work he
is likely to go back to drinking himself.
There is, they agreed, no such thing as an
ex-alcoholic. If
one is an alcoholic -- that is, a person who is unable
to drink normally -- one remains an alcoholic until he
dies, just as a diabetic remains a diabetic."

for Today -- A Daily Devotional
*******************************
I
don’t like to compare addiction to diabetes because
addiction boils down to a choice or not using.
We will always be sick because of this problem
with have with saying NO to whatever addiction has
grabbed us.
But the insurance that can come in our lives –
is God’s will first, working the steps, loving our
fellow humans and serving others.
When
we stop “working” that program then we will likely
go back to our old ways and methods -- Stay focused on
God and the program he has set you in.
If
you pay attention to these laws and are careful to
follow them, then the LORD your God will keep his
covenant of love with you, as he swore to your
forefathers. He
will love you and bless you and increase your numbers.
He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops
of your land -- your grain, new wine and oil -- the
calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the
land that he swore to your forefathers to give you.
You will be blessed more than any other people;
none of your men or women will be childless, nor any of
your livestock without young.
The LORD will keep you free from every disease.
He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases
you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who
hate you. You
must destroy all the peoples the LORD your God gives
over to you. Do
not look on them with pity and do not serve their gods,
for that will be a snare to you.
