JUST FOR TODAY! -- Isolation

From “He Who Loses His Life”:

"Once, or even twice, such incidents might be amusing.  Repeated year on end, they are horrible - frightening and degrading, a chronicle of tragedy which may be greater because the individual undergoing the tragedy, myself, knew what was happening, and yet refused to do anything to stop it.  One by one, the understanding friends dropped away.  The helpful family finally said, over long distance, that there would be no more money and that I could not come home.”

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

**********************************

Isolation – exactly where Satan wants us to be.  When we stop going to meetings, when we stop calling our sponsor – when we stop seeking our sober friends – then we begin to not work the steps = waking in OUR ways and not God’s and then we begin to rely on our own strength and then we begin to seek the old haunts and then……  don’t listen to that false voice – of satan -- he is trying to set road blocks for you.

Cling to God – walk always in His ways - - keep in daily contact with your sponsor – remember you are not immune no matter how well you are doing -- stay connected to God – sponsor and group – it is safe and secure – they will hold you accountable.

“You shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.  "You shall follow the LORD your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.” -- Deuteronomy 13:3-5

First Step Prayer

Dear Lord,

STEP ONE -- Is about recognizing our brokenness.

I admitted I was powerless over the effects of my separation from GOD -- that my life has become unmanageable.

“I know nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.  For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” -- Romans 7:18

I admit that my life is unmanageable when I try to control it

Help me this day to understand the true meaning of powerlessness

Remove from me all denial of my dependencies

Additional Scriptures to help me understand what the Word of God say about admitting the unmanageability of our lives,

·        Matthew 9:36

·        Romans 7:18-20

·        Psalm 6:2-4

·        Psalm 31:9-10

·        Psalm 38:1-9

·        Psalm 44:15, 16

·        Psalm 72:12, 13

”Two are better than one, because they
have a good reward for their toil.
For if they fall, one will lift up the other;
but woe to one who is alone and falls
and does not have another to help”
-- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
