Just For Today! -- OPENNESS
From
"Religion Looks at Alcoholics Anonymous:"
"AA will
go on serving men and women as long as it may be needed,
if it keeps open to God for inspiration, open to one
another for fellowship, and open to people outside for
service."

Just
for Today -- A Daily Devotional
**********************************
As the
church that John wrote the Revelation of Jesus Christ
to, they had lost their first love. So too with our
recovery group and our recovery program. We can do all
the correct deeds and work the steps completely
according to the book, but without the inspiration and
direction of God and the desire to be open and willing
to serve people outside our “world” those deeds would
lead us to living our old lives. Living in our old
lives leads to relapse.
The key is
doing the things that help us keep close to our first
love. Prayer (daily reflection); Reading of the Word;
honesty and loving others. If we get skewed and fall
away from our first love we must immediately REMEMBER
from where we came; Repenting of our sin; and DO our
program again, looking to God for our daily needs.
“Yet I
hold this against you: You have forsaken your first
love. Remember the height from which you have fallen!
Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do
not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand
from its place.” -- Revelation 2:4-5
STEP TWO: Is about the birth of faith in
us.
I believe that GOD, through Jesus Christ
and the Holy Spirit, will restore me to sanity.
“For it is GOD who works in you to will
and to act according to his good purpose.” --
Philippians 2:13.
STEP TWO PRAYER
God, I'm standing at the turning point of
my life right now.
I know in my heart
that only you can restore me to sanity.
I humbly ask that
you remove all
twisted thought &
addictive behavior from me this day.
Heal my spirit &
restore in me a clear mind.
Give me your protection and care as I
abandon myself to you
and for me to give-up my old ways
and forget my old ideas just for today.
AMEN
