JUST FOR TODAY! -- Step Two -- Surrender

STEP TWO: Is about the birth of faith in us.

I  believe that GOD, through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, will restore me to sanity.

“For it is GOD who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” -- Philippians 2:13.

"’All you really need is a truly open mind.  Just resign from the debating society and quit bothering yourself with such deep questions as whether it was the hen or the egg that came first.  Again, I say, all you need is the open mind.’”

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

It will never cease to amaze me that we are so ready to argue against – God and the spiritual -- what are we afraid of in the first place?

God is not someone to fear, God is not causing us the hurt in our lives -- it is our choices that do that.  God is the one that loved the world so much that he devised a plan to be the perfect sacrifice and to provide the means to live eternally in His grace and His kingdom.

That is not someone we should run from -- we need to approach this Spiritual concern as a child - - with abandonment to give ourselves To Him fully.  Yes it takes an OPEN mind but it also takes a willing heart!

This is the biggest and most important valentine that you will receive today. 

Open your heart to this love of God and experience His grace.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.  This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.  Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.  But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."  -- John 3: 15-21

STEP TWO PRAYER

God, I'm standing at the turning point of my life right now.

I know in my heart that only you can restore me to sanity. 

I humbly ask that you remove all

twisted thought & addictive behavior from me this day.

Heal my spirit & restore in me a clear mind.

Give me your protection and care as I abandon myself to you

and for me to give-up my old ways

and forget my old ideas just for today.

AMEN

Came to Believe

I cried a tear that came from my soul,

The doctor had already told the news,

Why me, I screamed, this just can't be,

It must be someone else's fault,

When, to myself, I lied.

Just this one drink and not anymore,

I often was heard to say.

It worked a thousand times before,

So why not on this day?

My soul lay naked, I looked at myself

To see what I had done.

It started out so innocently,

It really looked like fun.

Reliving it now, as I look back,

I see it all was me.

I didn't like the person at all

That I had come to be.

The change came slowly,

one day at a time,

For this I had to pray,

The steps gave me a way of life,

I practice everyday !
