JUST FOR TODAY! -- Step Two -- Open Mind

STEP TWO: Is about the birth of faith in us.

I  believe that GOD, through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, will restore me to sanity.

“For it is GOD who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” -- Philippians 2:13.

STEP TWO PRAYER

God, I'm standing at the turning point of my life right now.

I know in my heart that only you can restore me to sanity. 

I humbly ask that you remove all

twisted thought & addictive behavior from me this day.

Heal my spirit & restore in me a clear mind.

Give me your protection and care as I abandon myself to you

and for me to give-up my old ways

and forget my old ideas just for today.

AMEN

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

We all have to admit that up to the point in our lives that we were active in addiction, we were not doing things that produced positive results.  We find AA and the steps -- and most of all God.  Although the tenets of AA say “higher power” - the truth is that it is all about God.  He is the one that makes it all come together and He is the one that restores us to our rightful place in the kingdom.  To succeed in the program, requires a relationship with the true God and living by the power of Jesus, trusting in His name.

“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong.  It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.” -- Acts 3:16

Came to Believe

I cried a tear that came from my soul,

Please set me free, I said,

The doctor had already told the news,

That, soon I would be dead!

Why me, I screamed, this just can't be,

You know how hard I tried!

It must be someone else's fault,

When, to myself, I lied.

Just this one drink and not anymore,

I often was heard to say.

It worked a thousand times before,

So why not on this day?

My soul lay naked, I looked at myself

To see what I had done.

It started out so innocently,

It really looked like fun.

Reliving it now, as I look back,

I see it all was me.

I didn't like the person at all

That I had come to be.

The change came slowly,

one day at a time,

For this I had to pray,

The steps gave me a way of life,

I practice everyday !
