Just For Today – Quality
STEP TWO: Is about the birth of faith in
us.
I believe that GOD, through Jesus Christ
and the Holy Spirit, will restore me to sanity.
“For it is GOD who works in you to will
and to act according to his good purpose.” --
Philippians 2:13.
STEP TWO PRAYER
God, I'm standing at the turning point of
my life right now.
I know in my heart that only
you can restore me to sanity.
I humbly ask that you remove
all
twisted thought & addictive
behavior from me this day.
Heal my spirit & restore in
me a clear mind.
Give me your protection and care as I
abandon myself to you
and for me to give-up my old ways
and forget my old ideas just for today.
AMEN
"To clergymen, doctors,
friends, and families, the alcoholic who means well and
tries hard is a heartbreaking riddle. To most AAs, he
is not. There are too many of us who have been just
like him, and have found the riddle's answer.
This answer has to do with
the quality of faith rather than its quantity.
This has been our blind
spot.
We supposed we had humility
when really we hadn't.
We supposed we had been
serious about religious practices when, upon honest
appraisal, we found we had only been superficial. Or,
going to the other extreme, we had wallowed in
emotionalism and had mistaken it for true religious
feeling.
In both cases, we had been
asking for something for nothing. The fact was that we
hadn't really cleaned house so that the grace of God
could enter us and expel the obsession."

Quality of
faith - - is what it is all about. We have been
brain-washed in this world to think that quantity equals
success. it does not. Quality of faith is what is in
our hearts. The Bible says God knows our hearts, and
that can be scary based on what we are hiding there.
Faith is not an emotion
driven event, emotions come and go and we cannot really
depend on our emotions since we have been living in
addiction. Our emotions are most time out of control.
Faith comes with knowing God, being in communion with
Him, inviting Him into our hearts to cleanse us. That
is right - dying to ourselves and letting God bring the
new creation in.
God is waiting, He is a
gracious God, not forcing Himself on us, He only waits
for the invitation to come in. Then we have quality of
faith and as time grows, when we work our recovery
program, we will see our quantity of faith increase.

and I ate them,
And Your words became for me a joy and the
delight of my heart;
For I have been called by Your name,
O LORD God of hosts.” -- Jeremiah 15:16

Came to Believe
I cried a tear that came from my soul,
Please set me free, I said,
The doctor had already told the news,
That, soon I would be dead!
Why me, I screamed, this just can't be,
You know how hard I tried!
It must be someone else's fault,
When, to myself, I lied.
Just this one drink and not anymore,
I often was heard to say.
It worked a thousand times before,
So why not on this day?
My soul lay naked, I looked at myself
To see what I had done.
It started out so innocently,
It really looked like fun.
Reliving it now, as I look back,
I see it all was me.
I didn't like the person at all
That I had come to be.
The change came slowly,
one day at a time,
For this I had to pray,
The steps gave me a way of life,
I practice everyday !
