Wings Devotional Recovery ... March 2, 2009

The Month of March brings us to Step Three ... We will have Step Devotionals every Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday and sometimes on Mondays ... Tuesdays and Thursdays Sobriety Devotionals ...

Just For Today! – Tradition Three -- Inclusive

STEP THREE: Involves a decision to let GOD be in charge of My Life.

I make a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of GOD through Jesus Christ

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of GOD’s  mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to GOD - which is your spiritual worship." -- Romans 12:1

Promise: We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.

Third Step Prayer~ (Page 63 - A. A. Big Book)

God, I offer myself to Thee

To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.

Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will.

Take away my difficulties,

that victory over them may bear

witness to those I would help of Thy Power,

Thy Love and

Thy Way of life,

May I do Thy will always!

TRADITION THREE: The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.

"AA is really saying to every serious drinker, 'You are an AA member if YOU say so.  You can declare yourself in; nobody can keep you out.  No matter who you are, no matter how low you've gone, no matter how grave your emotional complications -- even your crimes -- we still can't deny you ... So you're an AA member the minute you declare yourself.'

"Tradition Three insured that we would get what we need – each other."

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

**********************************

Fellowship – the true measure of success.  What is so remarkable about our recovery groups, is the true fellowship.  Many of us go to meetings to get – but the true test of recovery comes in what we give out to others.  It is not about you, it is always about God and others.

At first when we enter, our commonality is a desire to stop using "our drug."  Without exception we are welcomed with opened arms -- no one judging us.  We learn to trust, we hear others stories -- we find this is exactly what we have been needing.  True fellowship of brothers/sisters who love unconditionally – who reflect God -- as an extension of His arms and legs.

An incredible gift. But remember as you grow, to reach out to others, attend meetings to help some one who might be struggling.  Share your story to someone who might be needing encouragement, remembering that someone was there when you first came in.  Keep coming back!

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.  Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." -- Philippians 2:1-4

Prayer of commitment to GOD:

Dear Jesus,

Thank YOU for making me and loving me,

even when I ignored you and gone my own way.

I realize I need You in my life

and I’m sorry for my past behavior.

I ask You to forgive me.

As much as I know how, I want to follow You from now on.

Please come into my life and

make me a new person inside.

I accept Your gift of salvation.

Please help me to grow now as a Christian.

Amen.

God, Take my will and my life. Guide me in my recovery.

Show me how to live. (the step on p. 59 BB)

AMEN
