Just For Today – Step Three -- Let God

STEP THREE: Involves a decision to let GOD be in charge of My Life.

I make a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of GOD through Jesus Christ

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of GOD’s  mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to GOD - which is your spiritual worship." -- Romans 12:1

Promise: We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.

Third Step Prayer~ (Page 63 - A. A. Big Book)

God, I offer myself to Thee

To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.

Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will.

Take away my difficulties,

that victory over them may bear

witness to those I would help of Thy Power,

Thy Love and

Thy Way of life,

May I do Thy will always!

Step Three: I Made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God as I understood Him.

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

This is the base step - we must allow someone beside ourselves to control what we couldn't do in the first place.  Our lives under our control got very out of control and we arrived at our present state because of those bad choices we have been making.  When we finally honestly and humbly decide to turn our will over to God -- then we begin to walk on the road of recovery.

We fight so long to avoid this God - - and once we come to know him we really can't understand why we have waited so long.  God is perfect, never changing always loving unconditionally -- willing to help us when we call.

He doesn't chase us into the kingdom -- but He stands by and waits for our realization to kick in.  Call on Him today and see how easy your will becomes His.

3   since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you.

4   For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God's power we will live with him to serve you.

5   Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? -- II Corinthians 13: 3-5

Prayer of commitment to GOD:

Dear Jesus,

Thank YOU for making me and loving me,

even when I ignored you and gone my own way. 

I realize I need You in my life

and I’m sorry for my past behavior. 

I ask You to forgive me. 

As much as I know how, I want to follow You from now on.

Please come into my life and

make me a new person inside. 

I accept Your gift of salvation. 

Please help me to grow now as a Christian.

Amen.

God, Take my will and my life. Guide me in my recovery.

Show me how to live. (the step on p. 59 BB)
