Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

Well stated - the one thing we THINK we find relief in is the very thing that does destroy us.  We keep trying to run to earthly things to satisfy the craving - to find something that will take away the pain - to find that ultimate escape.  But we find nothing - because the only thing that satisfies is God -- He is never changing - and just and loving He is the stability, the escape, the strength we have been looking for all along.

 

The Missing Link - is Jesus/Yeshua

 

“Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: "Men of Athens!  I see that in every way you are very religious.  For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.”

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.” -- Acts 17:22-24

 

STEP THREE: Involves a decision to let GOD be in charge of My Life.

I make a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of GOD through Jesus Christ

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of GOD’s  mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to GOD - which is your spiritual worship." -- Romans 12:1

Promise: We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.

 

Third Step Prayer~ (Page 63 - A. A. Big Book)

God, I offer myself to Thee

To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.

Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will.

 

Take away my difficulties,

that victory over them may bear

witness to those I would help of Thy Power,

 

Thy Love and

Thy Way of life,

May I do Thy will always!

 

Prayer of commitment to GOD:

Dear Jesus,

Thank YOU for making me and loving me,

even when I ignored you and gone my own way. 

I realize I need You in my life

and I’m sorry for my past behavior. 

I ask You to forgive me. 

As much as I know how, I want to follow You from now on.

Please come into my life and

make me a new person inside. 

I accept Your gift of salvation. 

Please help me to grow now as a Christian.

Amen.

 

God, Take my will and my life. Guide me in my recovery.

Show me how to live. (the step on p. 59 BB)
