Just For Today! --
Why?
From “Because I'm An
Alcoholic”:
"Somehow I still managed
to keep my job and most of my friends, social drinkers
who were urging me to cut down on the alcohol. That
counsel only made me mad, but I was concerned myself. I
asked the therapist I was seeing, sometimes with beer in
hand, would I have to stop? His answer was that we had
to find out why I drank. I’d ! already tried but was
never able to find out why until I learned the answer in
AA - because I'm an alcoholic.”

A simple answer - because I
am an addict - that is why I use or drink. I can blame
both parents, every teacher I had in school, every
friend, every bad thing that happened in my past, my
wife, my kids, my dog the cat the weather, etc. but the
fact is I am an addict - I drink because I am an
addict. When I could really grasp that - I was at the
beginning of my recovery - because i was at the end of
myself.
“14For this reason I bow !
my knees before the Father 15from whom every family in
heaven and on earth is named. 16I pray that He may
grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be
strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner
man, 17 and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts
through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly
established in love, 18 may be able to comprehend.” --
Ephesians 3:14-21
STEP THREE: Involves a
decision to let GOD be in charge of My Life.
I make a decision to turn my
will and my life over to the care of GOD through Jesus
Christ
"Therefore, I urge you,
brothers, in view of GOD’s mercy, to offer your bodies
as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to GOD - which
is your spiritual worship." -- Romans 12:1
Promise:
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know
peace.
Third Step Prayer~ (Page 63
- A. A. Big Book)
God, I offer myself to Thee
To build with me and to do
with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of
self, that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may
bear
witness to those I would
help of Thy Power,
Thy Love and
Thy Way of life,
May I do Thy will always!
Prayer of commitment to
GOD:
Dear Jesus,
Thank YOU for making me and
loving me,
even when I ignored you and
gone my own way.
I realize I need You in my
life
and I’m sorry for my past
behavior.
I ask You to forgive me.
As much as I know how, I
want to follow You from now on.
Please come into my life and
make me a new person
inside.
I accept Your gift of
salvation.
Please help me to grow now
as a Christian.
Amen.
God, Take my will and my
life. Guide me in my recovery.
Show me how to live. (the
step on p. 59 BB)
AMEN
