JUST FOR TODAY! --
God’s Help!
From “Another Prodigal
Story”:
"I know
I am an alcoholic and while I used to call on God to
help me, my conclusion is that I was simply asking God
to help me drink alcohol without its hurting me, which
is a far different thing than asking him [sic] to help
me not to drink at all.”

Devotional
**********************************
The above measure couldn't be truer because until we
really understand our need to change - and to change
because we love God more than anything - we were praying
that God allow us to live life on our terms and keep us
healthy, wealthy and wise.
But that leads to our destruction - we must realize that
we can't live in addiction and stay safe, healthy and
wise -- it will only get progressively worse. Turn
around and pray for God to change you and to walk in
recovery with His lead. God is waiting for you as a
father waits for his children to return home when they
have ventured on wrong paths. He will rejoice and
celebrate each time one of His children returns home.
“13 Not many days later, the
younger son gathered together all he had and traveled to
a distant country, where he squandered his estate in
foolish living.
14 After he had spent
everything, a severe famine struck that country, and he
had nothing.
15 Then he went to work for
one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into
his fields to feed pigs.
16 He longed to eat his fill
from the carob pods the pigs were eating, and no one
would give him any.
17 But when he came to his
senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired hands
have more than enough food, and here I am dying of
hunger!
18 I'll get up, go to my
father, and say to him, "Father, I have sinned against
heaven and in your sight.
19 I'm no longer worthy to
be called your son. Make me like one of your hired
hands." '
20 So he got up and went to
his father. But while the son was still a long way off,
his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He
ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him.
21 The son said to him,
'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.
I'm no longer worthy to be called your son.'
22 "But the father told his
slaves, 'Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on
him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
23 Then bring the
fattened calf and slaughter it, and let's celebrate with
a feast,
24 because this son of
mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is
found!'”
-- Luke 15: 13-24
STEP THREE: Involves a
decision to let GOD be in charge of My Life.
I make a decision to turn my
will and my life over to the care of GOD through Jesus
Christ
"Therefore, I urge you,
brothers, in view of GOD’s mercy, to offer your bodies
as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to GOD - which
is your spiritual worship." -- Romans 12:1
Promise:
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know
peace.
Third Step Prayer~ (Page 63
- A. A. Big Book)
God, I offer myself to Thee
To build with me and to do
with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of
self, that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may
bear
witness to those I would
help of Thy Power,
Thy Love and
Thy Way of life,
May I do Thy will always!
Prayer of commitment to
GOD:
Dear Jesus,
Thank YOU for making me and
loving me,
even when I ignored you and
gone my own way.
I realize I need You in my
life
and I’m sorry for my past
behavior.
I ask You to forgive me.
As much as I know how, I
want to follow You from now on.
Please come into my life and
make me a new person
inside.
I accept Your gift of
salvation.
Please help me to grow now
as a Christian.
Amen.
God, Take my will and my
life. Guide me in my recovery.
Show me how to live. (the
step on p. 59 BB)
AMEN
