JUST FOR TODAY! -- Step Three -- Progress

STEP THREE: Involves a decision to let GOD be in charge of My Life.

I make a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of GOD through Jesus Christ

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of GOD’s  mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to GOD - which is your spiritual worship." -- Romans 12:1

Promise: We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.

Third Step Prayer~ (Page 63 - A. A. Big Book)

God, I offer myself to Thee

To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.

Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will.

Take away my difficulties,

that victory over them may bear

witness to those I would help of Thy Power,

Thy Love and

Thy Way of life,

May I do Thy will always!

Step Three: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

"Once we have placed the key of willingness in the lock and have the door ever so slightly open, we find that we can always open it some more.  Though self-will may slam it shut again, as it frequently does, it will always respond the moment we again pick up the key of willingness.”

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

Turning our will over to someone -- a hard step to do because when we do we know there is going to be changes -- we open the door a crack - but then we can fling it wide open and allow the mighty awesome power of God to encompass us.

Yes sometimes it is a swinging door -- open then shut open then shut -- a cycle we often repeat -- but when we finally leave the door open, we can see the blessings that begin to enter our door -- blessings from the God on High -- the perfect God who loves us so much that he sacrificed for us - to have everlasting life -- Work hard at this step and accomplish it soon -- the benefits are out of this world.

“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” -- I Corinthians 2:5

Prayer of commitment to GOD:

Dear Jesus,

Thank YOU for making me and loving me,

even when I ignored you and gone my own way. 

I realize I need You in my life

and I’m sorry for my past behavior. 

I ask You to forgive me. 

As much as I know how, I want to follow You from now on.

Please come into my life and

make me a new person inside. 

I accept Your gift of salvation. 

Please help me to grow now as a Christian.

Amen.

God, Take my will and my life. Guide me in my recovery.

Show me how to live. (the step on p. 59 BB)
