JUST FOR TODAY! – Step Eight -- Action

STEP EIGHT   Involves examining My relationships and prepare to make amends.

STEP EIGHT: I make a list of all persons who have hurt me and choose to forgive them.  I also make a list of all persons I have harmed and become willing to make amends to them all.

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” -- Luke 6:31

"Willingness is a peculiar thing for me in that, over a period of time, it seems to come, first with awareness, but then with a feeling of discomfort, making me want to take some action ... I wanted to feel the peace and serenity described in the Promises ... I wanted to learn to live in harmony with myself and others so that I could also live in emotional freedom.  The beginning of the end to my isolation -- from my fellows and from God -- came when I wrote my Eighth Step list."

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

**********************************

Harmony – a strange experience for an addict.  Only through the healing hands of our Lord can we experience true harmony.  Harmony requires interfacing with others and that at times is extremely hard for an addict, as we have isolated far too long.

The great Christian writer AW Tozer sites an example of how harmony is shown – he says “has it ever occurred to you that 100 pianos all tuned to each other?   They are in one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which one must individually bow.  So when 100

worshipers (or in our case addicts) meeting together, each one looking up to Christ, are in hear nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become “unity” conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship

As we grow in the Lord’s ways, we learn to live in harmony with God and ourselves and by His strength we are able to live in harmony with others-working Step Eight – being tuned by one common “tuning fork – called Jesus.  Humbly seeking God’s lead and creating our list of folks we have harmed and at first just be willing to make amends – frees us from isolation and we begin to sing harmoniously with God first and our family and friends.  True unity because of our common Rabbi – Jesus.

“Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.”

“Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.  Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” -- I Peter 3: 7-9

have a good reward for their toil.
For if they fall, one will lift up the other;
