Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

One day at a time -- the adage is old – used a lot – but something that is solid and truthful for addicts.  Through God’s direction and working the steps we are learning a new way to live.  When we break away from seeking God’s will and working the 12 steps, we find that we are resorting back to our old ways of living.  If we keep going on we will relapse.

The beauty is that we can immediately realize what we are doing wrong and ask God to give us the strength to turn it away.  The daily inventory is key to our success and must be done with honesty, humility and a desire to change.

“He called a little child and had him stand among them.  And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” -- Matthew 18:2-4
