JUST FOR TODAY! -- Reprieve

From "Giving It Away:"

"Through action I then receive the power I need to maintain my sobriety each day.  By maintaining my spiritual condition, by giving away what has been so freely given to me, I am granted a daily reprieve."

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

**********************************

The peace of Christ -- when we look at His life.  He willingly came to suffer a tragic painful death on the cross -- for all mankind. -- Never uttering a word in His defense during His trial, being condemned to death even though He was innocent – all because He loved us.

The good news is that He was raised from the dead – giving us the promise of resurrection and everlasting life.  All He asks is that we rely on Him daily as Lord and service.  Our recovery is similar, we are dead in our addiction and reprieve comes fully when we recover and walk in Jesus ways.  The addiction is a thief that has entered into our lives to kill and destroy, but Jesus, our Shepherd lays down His life for His sheep so we can have everlasting life.

Giving it away – Sharing the Word – Sharing the hope of recovery - why?  Because our example, Jesus gave His life away – for us – how can we do less?

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.  I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep.  So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.  Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.  John 10:10-12

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.

Proverbs 3, 5-6

”Two are better than one, because they
have a good reward for their toil.
For if they fall, one will lift up the other;
but woe to one who is alone and falls
and does not have another to help”
