Just For Today – Step Ten --
Contentment
STEP
TEN Is about maintaining progress in recovery.
We continue to take personal inventory,
and when we are wrong, promptly admit it.
“So if you think you are standing firm,
be careful that you do not fall.” -- I Corinthians 10:12
"Our inventory enables us to settle with
the past. When this is done, we are really able to
leave it behind us. When our inventory is carefully
taken, and we have made peace with ourselves, the
conviction follows that tomorrow's challenges can be met
as they come."

What is
described above could be labeled contentment. No, we
have not finished the walk we have begun, but we now
know that we can face any challenge that comes our way.
At Step 10 - we have the victory we see that we are
settling with our past, that our mistakes have not
killed us, that people will still love us because we
have made amends, because we are being honest with God,
ourselves and others. Because we are willing to
acknowledge our part in the hurts of others in our life,
because we are not perfect BUT we have a perfect God
living in our, giving us His Spirit to cause us to walk
in His ways. All it takes is for us to allow His Spirit
to have more room than our old inner self.
Some days it is easier than others, but
the truth is that each day we take, one day at a time,
with each step, we are growing in the grace of God and
the knowledge of His Word and utilizing the tools of the
12 Steps provided for us to walk in peace on this road
of recovery.
11Not
that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content
in whatever circumstances I am.
12I
know how to get along with humble means, and I also know
how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance
I have learned the secret of being filled and going
hungry, both of having abundance and suffering
need.
13I
can do all things through Him who strengthens
me.
-- Philipians 4:11-13
Trust in the LORD with all
your heart
and lean not on your own
understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3, 5-6
