JUST FOR TODAY! -- Equals
From "Getting Active:"
"In AA, no one is 'above' or 'below'
anyone else. There are no classes or strata or
hierarchies among the members. There are no formal
officers with any governing power or authority
whatsoever. AA is not an organization in the usual
sense of that word. Instead, it is a fellowship of
equals. Everybody calls everybody else by first name.
AA's take turns doing the services needed for group
meetings and other functions."

The thing
that amazed me when I walked into AA was the people I
saw. I felt so low – so inadequate and so wretched,
that I though only the scum of the earth would have my
problems. I looked around and saw people I knew from
television, radio, some very famous people and in that
AA group, we were all ordinary people with the same
struggles and the same desire to get sober.
That is how God sees all of us. The
things on this earth do not matter – what matters is our
heart – our heart that is turned to God – to live in His
will, by His power and His precepts. Calling Him Lord,
makes all of us equal, adopted children into the kingdom
of God recovering together, sharing the load, sharing
the truth and the good news that recovery through Christ
is possible.
“If you
have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if
any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the
Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, Then make my
joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love,
being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of
selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility
consider others better than yourselves.” -- Philippians
2:1-3
Trust in the LORD with all
your heart
and lean not on your own
understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3, 5-6
