JUST FOR TODAY! – Present

From "One door closes and another opens:"

"Bill and Lois always retained their capacity for enjoying themselves, each other, and nature.  They did not let anxieties about past or future interfere with that enjoyment.  As a couple, they were gifted with that elusive ability to 'live in the now.'  (It is hardly surprising, then, that this is one of the most potent and useful suggestions of the AA program.)"

Just for Today -- A Daily Devotional

**********************************

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."  Helen Keller (1880 - 1968)Helen Keller penned that quote -- and we never see the rest of the quote – “we often look so long at the closed door and do not see the one that has opened to us.

During our active addiction life -- the door to recovery was always there -- many times ignored -- but there nonetheless.

All we had to do was enter through it.  We have to make that first step.  There is a famous picture of Jesus standing at the door knocking to get in – the inspiring part of the picture is that there is no handle on the outside -- the implication is that WE have to open the door and ask Him to come in -- taking the first step.

Recovery and Jesus are waiting -- the door is open -- for you to enter in.  He is knocking -- let Him lead your recovery now!

“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.  So be earnest, and repent.  Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.

 If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in

and eat with him, and he with me. 21To him who overcomes, I will

give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and

sat down with my Father on his throne. -- Revelation 3:19-21

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.

Proverbs 3, 5-6
