Thanksgiving Day, is
an annual
holiday observed in the
United States and
Canada. The most common view of its
origin is that it was to give thanks to (the
Judeo-Christian)
God
for the bounty of the
autumn
harvest.
In this
world today, one man in California with the help of the
ACLU, is on a mission to remove God from our money, our
monuments, even our national anthem. Things have
changed since the beginning of this country -- today we
are fighting to keep God as the focus of this nation --
God has always been the center of our nation as
evidenced in many writings, letters and documents from
our beginnings.
We need to give thanks this
Thanksgiving Day for a country where we freely worship
God.
Note the words of another
attorney in 1813 as he watched as the Americans defended
the land:
"Oh! thus be it ever, when
freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the
war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued
land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a
nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the
brave!"

Francis Scott Key, Attorney/Poet
(final stanza of The Star Spangled Banner
– penned at Ft. McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland
during the British attack on the fort,
September 13, 1814)
The Staff of Wings of Eagles wishes each

JUST FOR TODAY! -- Liberation
From "We Agnostics:"
"Hence, we saw that reason isn't
everything. Neither is reason, as most of us use it,
entirely dependable, though it emanate from our best
minds. What about people who proved that man could
never fly? "Yet we had been seeing another kind of
flight, a spiritual liberation from this world, people
who rose above their problems."

You can’t
reason God – you can’t scientifically prove Him, you
have to feel Him in your heart. We fight Step Three …
And acknowledging Him in our lives, and
allowing Him
To work through us.
Then we begin to see Him, to Realize that
logic doesn’t have to apply -- that we Can just worship
Him and pray and ask Him to direct Our paths.
We thank Him for the tools of the steps
and The support of the groups - - then we can say “we
came To believe…”
Psalm 100
“A
psalm. For giving thanks.
Shout for joy to the LORD,
all the earth.
Worship
the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures
forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Trust in the LORD with all
your heart
and lean not on your own
understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3, 5-6
