JUST FOR TODAY! -- Living Fully
From "He Sold Himself Short:"
"This latest part of my life has had a
purpose, not in great things accomplished but in daily
living. Courage to face each day has replaced the fears
and uncertainties of earlier years. Acceptance of
things as they are has replaced the old impatient
champing at the bit to conquer the world. I have
stopped tilting at windmills, and instead have tried to
accomplish the little daily tasks, unimportant in
themselves, but tasks that are an integral part of
living fully."

I think
the greatest thing we learn in recovery is the
acceptance of things as they are -- not rejoicing in
hurts and turmoil – but in knowing that God had a part
in the event because there was something He needed to
teach us, something He needed to teach someone else or
someway in which His kingdom will be glorified.
We no longer have to conquer the world or
our addiction, or people, or achieve the highest
plateau, we can live one day at a time and realize our
part in this gigantic world is glorifying God –
spreading His Good News and telling our story to other
hurting souls.
“The grace of our Lord was poured out on
me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in
Christ Jesus. Here is a trustworthy saying that
deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners — of whom I am the worst. But for
that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the
worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his
unlimited patience as an example for those who would
believe on him and receive eternal life” -- Timothy
1:14-16
Trust in the LORD with all
your heart
and lean not on your own
understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.
