Just For Today -- Step One -- Seed
Step
One: I admitted I was powerless over the effects of my
separation from GOD -- that my life has become
unmanageable.
“I know nothing good lives in me, that
is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do
what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” -- Romans 7:18
"It was then discovered
that when one alcoholic had planted in the mind of
another the true nature of his malady, that person could
never be the same again. Following every spree, he
would say to himself, 'Maybe those AA's were right. . .
.' After a few such experiences, often years before the
onset of extreme difficulties, he would return to us
convinced. He had hit bottom as truly as any of us.
John Barleycorn himself had become our best advocate."

Seeds planted. As in our
recover and as in our faith, all we can do is tell
others what worked for us. What tools and steps we used
to 'make it'. We cannot have expectations of others
that when they hear our words, they will be so impressed
with them that they immediately begin a recovery journey
and succeed.
The same is with faith, we cannot expect
every person we share our faith with to become as on
fire as we, yet we must not deny them the truth.
We must share our story to others -- what
worked for us -- and share the blessings of true
recovery with Jesus, it IS a life changing experience.
Expect nothing in return but know your words will never
be forgotten and that God will walk the addict down the
path that he/she needs to go and will eventually see
light in the words that have been sown in their lives.
Remember you are NOT God
-- and to TRUST in Him!
Matthew 13:31-33 (New International
Version)
The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the
Yeast
31He
told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is
like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his
field.
32Though
it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows,
it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree,
so that the birds of the air come and perch in its
branches."
33He
told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven
is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large
amount of flour until it worked all through the dough."
First Step Prayer
Dear Lord,
STEP ONE -- Is about recognizing our
brokenness.
I admitted I was powerless over the
effects of my separation from GOD -- that my life has
become unmanageable.
“I know nothing good lives in me, that
is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do
what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” -- Romans 7:18
I admit that my life is unmanageable when
I try to control it
Help me this day to understand the true
meaning of powerlessness
Remove from me all denial of my
dependencies
