Just For Today - Beginning
From "The Perpetual Quest":
"My friend suggested that we
contact a man she knew who was a member of Alcoholics
Anonymous, and I agreed to call him. 'Perhaps he could
call you,' she said helpfully, which was the key,
because by that night I was just fine and didn't need
any outside help aside from a drink or two. But he kept
phoning and bothering me about going to a meeting. When
he told me he went to AA meetings three or four times a
week, I thought, Poor man, he has nothing better to do.
What a boring life it must be for him, running around to
AA meetings with nothing to drink! Boring indeed: no
bouncing off walls, no falling down stairs, no regular
trips to hospital emergency rooms, no lost cars, and on
and on."

Just for Today -- A Daily
Devotional
**********************************
not only a perpetual quest,
but a perpetual life. Something we will forever do
until God calls us home.
Our perception of AA is at
times so skewed. What do they offer, but hope,
sobriety, sanity, health, peace, support, etc. etc.
etc. Why would we not want these things. But we view
them as boring, 'no-lifers', we are not like them, etc.,
etc.
The moment we begin to
understand these AAers, then we begin our road to
recovery, perpetually living a life that God has
intended for us from the beginning.
Psalm 103:16-18 (New American Standard
Bible)
16When
the wind has passed over it, it is no more,
And its place acknowledges it no longer.
17But
the lovingkindness of the LORD is from
everlasting to everlasting on those who [a]fear
Him,
And His righteousness to
children's children,
18To
those who keep His covenant
And remember His precepts to do them.
STEP TWO: Is about the birth of faith in
us.
I believe that GOD, through Jesus Christ
and the Holy Spirit, will restore me to sanity.
“For it is GOD who works in you to will
and to act according to his good purpose.” --
Philippians 2:13.
STEP TWO PRAYER
God, I'm standing at the
turning point of my life right now.
I know in my heart that only you can
restore me to sanity.
I humbly ask that you remove all
twisted thought & addictive behavior from
me this day.
Heal my spirit & restore in me a clear
mind.
Give me your protection and
care as I abandon myself to you
and for me to give-up my old
ways
and forget my old ideas just
for today.
AMEN
