Wings of Eagles - "All for The Glory of God"

About Us

The members of Wings of Eagles/Carried By His Wings are sober today by the power of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Each has been delivered from a seemingly hopeless situation to complete physical, spiritual and psychological freedom.  Were they delivered the day they stopped drugging, drinking and sexual impurity, or did the miracle come after days or months of staying sober by God’s power?  The answer to that question is a highly subjective one, but the following truths about their common experience are not .....

After the damaging substance was removed from their lives, they were all sick and in need of healing of the body, mind, emotions and spirit as well as in the area of relationships. In a small number of cases God did instantly heal the body of the physical addiction to drugs and/or alcohol and removed the adverse physical trauma associated with withdrawal.

It is their long term experience that they have never witnessed an instantaneous healing for an alcohol or drug abuser that went beyond the area of the physical. This leaves more than 80% of the substance abuser’s problems untouched. Jesus sets the captive free by removing the overwhelming desire for alcohol or other drugs and has a complete set of plans for total recovery. Those plans are found in the Word of God.

Scripture outlines thousands of promises that God has fulfilled in the lives of Wings of Eagles members as they have been obedient to the Lord. There are no promises of sobriety that are not contingent upon a combination of faith and action. By the leading of the scripture, godly counsel, and the Holy Spirit, each has entered into a daily plan of fellowship with other recovering individuals. As the ministry of Jesus was not done obscurely, the recovering substance abuser cannot isolate himself after being liberated from his addiction.

It is therefore apparent that a large number of individuals, both inside and outside the body of Christ, have recovered because they have employed the time-tested tools for staying sober. Addiction is a problem of the whole person and recovery from its comprehensive damage takes hard work, retraining, obedience, and most of all time. There is no instant cure for the spiritual and psychological damage done by substance abuse.

The bad news is that it is difficult to overcome substance abuse. The good news is that today over one million men, women and teens are sober because of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and their dedication to the rigorous program of spiritual and physical recovery. The Wings of Eagles program recommends a comprehensive approach to the problem of addiction that neither denies the power of Jesus Christ nor overlooks the addict’s own responsibility for his own ongoing recovery. The addicted person needs healing in body, mind, soul and spirit if he is to totally recover.

Equally as important, the families of addicts, parents, wives, husbands and children are confronting their own damaged lives and need healing from their own deep wounds. One of the common myths is the belief that if the addict stops, his family’s problems will disappear. This is among the reasons that divorce among recovering addicts and their spouses is actually higher than in families where substance abuse is still taking place. If the family is to be healed, they too must begin a program of recovery. The Wings of Eagles group recognizes this need and seeks to minister to the total family problem.

The scripture that is most appropriate for those who have been delivered from addiction is Psalm 40:1-3 “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”
